Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy

A space where you don’t have to mask who you are

Many neurodivergent people move through the world feeling “too much”, “too sensitive”, or constantly on alert. You may have spent years masking, adapting, or pushing yourself to fit into environments that weren’t built with your nervous system in mind.

Therapy with me is a space where you don’t have to hide, shrink, or perform.

You get to show up exactly as you are — without judgement, without pressure, and without needing to explain every part of yourself.

What neurodivergence can feel like

Neurodivergence isn’t just about how your brain works — it’s about how the world has responded to you. Many people carry a lifetime of being misunderstood, dismissed, or told they’re “too much” or “not enough”.

You might recognise yourself in:

  • masking to cope or to avoid judgement
  • feeling overwhelmed by sensory input or social expectations
  • chronic burnout from years of pushing beyond your limits
  • emotional intensity that others don’t understand
  • shutdowns, overwhelm, or difficulty regulating energy
  • feeling like an outsider, even with people you care about
  • shame about the ways you cope, withdraw, or protect yourself

You don’t need a formal diagnosis to relate to these experiences.

Many people simply know that their brain works differently — and that life has been harder because of it.

How I support neurodivergent clients

My approach is grounded in identity, safety, and the understanding that neurodivergence and burnout often intertwine.

Identity‑affirming

Your neurodivergence is not a flaw.

It’s part of who you are — your wiring, your perception, your way of moving through the world.

Together, we explore identity, belonging, and the masks you’ve learned to wear to survive.

Burnout‑aware

Neurodivergent burnout is real, and it’s different from everyday stress.

We work gently with the exhaustion, the shutdown, the emotional depletion, and the sense of losing yourself.

Trauma‑informed

Many ND people carry trauma from misunderstanding, rejection, or years of masking. We move slowly, with care and attunement to your nervous system.

Parts‑aware

We make space for the parts of you that protect, push, shut down, or feel overwhelmed — all with compassion, not judgement.

Relational

Our connection matters. You don’t have to perform or get it “right”. You get to be fully yourself, even if you’re still figuring out who that is.

Sensory‑aware

We adapt the space to your needs — pace, silence, movement, grounding, or structure.

What sessions can look like

Sessions with me are calm, steady, and spacious.

You can bring:

  • the overwhelm
  • the shutdown
  • the spiralling thoughts
  • the emotional intensity
  • the exhaustion
  • the confusion
  • the need for clarity or grounding

Some sessions are reflective.

Some are emotional.

Some are quiet.

Some are about untangling long‑held patterns.

All of them are shaped around what your nervous system needs that day.

Your pace matters

There is no pressure to share everything at once.

You don’t have to explain your whole history or mask your needs.

We move slowly, gently, and with respect for your sensory and emotional capacity.

Therapy is not a performance — it’s a space to come home to yourself.

If this feels like the kind of space you’ve been needing, you’re welcome to get in touch. We can explore whether working together feels supportive for you, at a pace that honours your nervous system.
