Counselling for Trauma

When trauma lives in the body and mind

Trauma isn’t just something that “happened in the past.”

It can live in your body, your nervous system, your relationships, and the way you move through the world.

You might find yourself:

  • always on alert
  • overwhelmed by small things
  • shutting down when emotions feel too big
  • avoiding certain people, places, or memories
  • feeling disconnected from yourself
  • carrying shame or self‑blame
  • struggling to trust or feel safe

Trauma shapes how you cope — often quietly, often for years.

Therapy offers a space where you don’t have to hold it alone.

How trauma can show up in daily life

Trauma can weave itself into everyday moments, even when you can’t name it.

You might notice:

  • difficulty relaxing or switching off
  • feeling “too much” or “not enough”
  • emotional numbness or overwhelm
  • people‑pleasing or masking to stay safe
  • burnout from holding everything together
  • a sense of being stuck, lost, or disconnected

These responses aren’t personal failings — they’re survival strategies your system learned to keep you safe.

How I support people living with trauma

My approach is gentle, steady, and grounded.

We go at your pace — never faster than your system can manage.

Together, we might explore:

  • understanding your nervous system
  • building safety and stability
  • reconnecting with parts of yourself you had to hide
  • processing painful experiences without becoming overwhelmed
  • reducing shame and self‑blame
  • finding new ways of coping that don’t exhaust you

You don’t have to relive everything for therapy to help.

We focus on what feels safe, manageable, and supportive.

You’re not “too much” your story makes sense

Many people I work with have spent years being the strong one, the responsible one, or the one who copes quietly.

If that’s you, you’re not alone.

Your reactions make sense.

Your body has been trying to protect you.

Therapy can be a place to finally put some of that weight down.

If you’re living with trauma, you don’t have to do it alone

If trauma has been shaping your days or making life feel harder to navigate, therapy can offer a steady, supportive space to begin easing the weight you’ve been carrying.

These topics often overlap with trauma, and many people I work with experience more than one of them.
